The gently shelving beaches on the Mediterranean coast offer some of the safest bathing combined with possibilities for kite surfing or body boarding amongst the breakers. The opposite side on the inland sea or "Mar Menor" offers an extremely calm and gently shelving shoreline ideal for learning to windsurf or water ski.

Close by is upmarket La Manga Club with its competition standard golf course and the yacht club is only a couple of kilometres in the other direction.

Nearby Cabo Palos, a working fishing port, is the ideal spot to enjoy a leisurely lunch in one of several excellent harbour side restaurants which specialise in freshly caught local fish, baked in salt.

There is a well established ex-pat community which lives in La Manga all year round including some celebrity ex-premiership footballers and managers.
